You may have noticed that we have recently relaunched the AppSwing website, given it a bit of a makeover and refreshed the content. Why did we feel that this was necessary? Well every once in a while it is, I believe, important to check that your shopfront window is still eye catching and relevant. Also we wanted to ensure that everyone knew that AppSwing were not only about mobility but about providing access to your applications by a variety of methods including web services, messaging solutions and mobile devices.

As part of the update process not only has a new look and feel been applied but also every page has been revisited and the content tweaked or completely rewritten where necessary. As I am sure you can imagine this has been a time consuming exercise but one that has been rewarded with many positive comments received already.

The process started with the idea that we wanted the new front page to be immediately obvious what it is that we do, to have less words and to have quick links to the relevant AppSwing Enterprise Suite areas. We also wanted to make sure that we made the most of the customer references we have, hence the quotes (which are from genuine customers) at the top of some pages.

Then our designer did some mock-ups of what the pages could look like. We rejected a couple of designs for various reasons before we agreed upon something that was close to what you see today.

We then implemented the site on an internal server. Further changes were made at this stage to things like font sizes and colours to aid readability. Then a review of everypage was undertaken to ensure that all was as it was intended to be.

Finally, the whole things was upload to our live server and all pages checked again.

Despite all the checking and internal reviews carried out things still slip through the net. After the site had been live less than a day it was discovered that the company telephone number was incorrect. A fairly serious error but one that was quick to fix at least.

There are still a few outstanding actions including creating a site map, applying a new template to this blog and a few other things but these will all happen over the next few days but all in all I am pleased with the result and, hopefully, it should last us another couple of years.
